Official says Russia’s agricultural output to rise 29.7% by 2030

MOSCOW, Sep 12 (PRIME) -- Russia’s agricultural production will grow by 29.7% by 2030 against the level of 2020, Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko said at a meeting of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with his deputies on Monday.

The strategy of Russia’s agriculture development, state support, and other measures “will ensure an increase in production of the agricultural sector by 29.7% by 2030,” Abramchenko said.

The agriculture industry will require at least 900 billion rubles of state financing annually by 2030, she said, adding that this amount will provide for an increase of more than 72% in the gross value added created in the industry.

The measures also include increasing technological independence of the sector and encouraging farmer’s demand for domestic analogues of the necessary equipment and machinery, as well as for Russian seeds, she added.

Abramchenko also confirmed plans to increase agricultural exports by 33.4% to more than U.S. $47 billion by 2030.

Russia needs to increase the supply of high value-added products and solve logistics problems to achieve the purpose, she said. More than 40 ships are to be built to transport agricultural products, she said, adding that a sufficient number of railway containers and refrigerators should be ensured as well.
